Harry Shearer and Judith Owen's Christmas Without Tears (Does This Tree Make Me Look Fat?)
Harry Shearer and Judith Owen's Christmas Without Tears (Does This Tree Make Me Look Fat?)
A tradition that began in Harry Shearer and Judith Owen’s Santa Monica home, these annual gatherings have grown into a heartwarming house party around the piano that involves and entertains fellow performers and audience members alike. Since 2005, when the first public performance was staged at the Walt Disney Concert Hall to aid the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, Christmas Without Tears has been a guilt-free way of having fun and giving back. All proceeds from this year’s Largo performance will benefit My Friend’s Place.

A reverent and irreverent antidote to the most stressful of seasons, the evening includes both invited performers and surprise guests who drop into Harry and Judith’s onstage living room and share a song or a joke to bring the holiday spirit to all. Comics, magicians and even circus acts have been welcome additions, adding the perfect mix that makes this a true variety show.

A throwback to simpler times, this homespun variety show is both festive romp and salve for the soul, serving as a reminder to all that Christmas (in Owen’s words) is a time to be with the ones you love…and sometimes, even family!
Jane Lynch
Jane Lynch
Three time Emmy and Golden Globe winning Actress Jane Lynch was raised near Chicago and cut her theatrical teeth at The Second City and Steppenwolf Theatre. Known for her TV work as Sue Sylvester in Glee, Amy in Angel From Hell, and the as host of Hollywood Game Night, Jane made her Broadway debut in the 2013 production of Annie, and soon thereafter embarked on her own live concert tour, See Jane Sing. She is joined by her good friends Kate Flannery (Meredith the drunk from The Office) Tim Davis (Vocal Arranger on Glee) backed by the exquisite jazz stylings of The Tony Guerrero Quintet who also open the show. The evening’s eclectic music ranges from Irving Berlin to Nicki Manaj to a medley of pops songs that made them cry as kids. With plenty of laughs along the way, the audience, according to Jane, “won’t know what hit them”.
