The Paul F. Tompkins Show, a 21st Century update of the classic variety show, debuted in 2002 and has been running steadily (pretty much) ever since. It has survived one change of buildings and one move to New York. The show features the very best talents in music and comedy, all brought together by the show’s host and namesake, Paul F. Tompkins. Regular guests include Dave (Gruber) Allen, Andy Richter, Aimee Mann, Dave Foley, Ben Gibbard, Kaitlin Olson and many, many more. Literally. MANY.

Henson Alternative’s “Stuffed & Unstrung” Returns to Largo on May 21st!

We are so excited to let our Largo friends know that Henson Alternative’s “Stuffed & Unstrung” (formally known as “Puppet Up”) will be back on Monday, May 21st for TWO back-to-back performances at 7:30 & 9:30. Back in November, the show SOLD OUT very quickly so make sure to get your tickets while you can. Tickets are on sale now ONLINE ONLY.

What happens when Henson puppeteers are unleashed? You get a new breed of intelligent nonsense with six talented, hilarious, expert puppeteers improvising songs and sketches based on your suggestions! With a motley group of characters brought to life by the world renowned puppeteers of The Jim Henson Company, this is not your average night of improv and it is definitely not for children. But all others are welcome to enjoy the uninhibited anarchy of live puppet performance as never seen before. The Miskreant Puppets have enjoyed 21st century success having been named by Entertainment Weekly as a Top Ten Best Stage Show of 2010, performing alongside Cee-Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2011 Grammy Awards and will be appearing in their very own upcoming feature length film. Emily Wells has long been turning heads with her unique songcraft. The performer, producer and songwriter trades in a striking mix of classical instrumentation, folk rawness and hip-hop production anchored by her haunting combination of voice and violin. Her burgeoning reputation owes as much to her hypnotic live show where, working a looping pedal, Wells becomes a one-woman orchestra, playing live drums, guitars, analog synthesizers and beat machines as well. It’s that same blend of deft composition and hand-wrought quality that deeply colors each of Wells’ albums.

Portland Cello Project:
Since the group’s inception in late 2007, Portland Cello Project (or, PCP, as their fans affectionately call them), has wowed audiences all over the country with extravagant performances, mixing genres and blurring musical lines and perceptions wherever they go.

No two shows are alike, with a repertoire now numbering over 800 pieces of music you wouldn’t normally hear coming out of a cello. Cello Project’s stage setup ranges from the very simple (4-6 cellos), to the all out epic (which has included 12 cellos playing with full choirs, winds, horns, and numerous percussion players).
